History of Elysee:
The founder of Elysee, Jacques Beaufort, was a watchmaker in a small village close to Bémont. He started production around 1920. He named his new company “ELYSEE” and started to produce high-grade solid gold timepieces, many of which featured diamond accents. By the 1940s Jacques Beaufort’s timepieces enjoyed an excellent reputation with respect to quality and remarkable designs. Innovative details, such as solid gold extension bands, put Beaufort and the Elysee brand ahead of it’s time.
After Beaufort’s death, Elysee was reestablished in 1960 by a company named Harer from Pforzheim, Germany. Along with the watch collection, which featured mechanical timepieces with automatic and hand winding movements, Harer produced jewelry gold jewelry designed. It was Harer that started to export and sell Elysee timepieces in neighboring counties such as Belgium, France and The Netherlands.
In 1991, Reiner Seume acquired the Elysee brand and trademark rights. According to Seume’s philosophy, the Elysee brand was relaunched to highlight Elysee’s tradition and highlight design influences from the 1940′s and 1960′s. The designs focus on function and style, rather than simply following current trends.
